    Lovely trunk, Cassy. It looks like the name and Sheffield have been added at a later date?

    It looks like the rivets / studs were put through the letters so maybe made to order before completion.

    Domed chests were usually owned by the wealthier traveller, they were loaded last and removed first on arrival as flat trunks could not be loaded on top.

    Nowadays flat trunks sell best and are used as tables, coffee tables etc.
    Domed trunks are used as blanket or storage boxes and that is about all.

    I just noticed the lock makers name
    Starlock Phila.

    This could be Starlock Works Philadelphia US.

    I doubt it is from Philadelphia in the North East UK
