Hi Antiquers, my Grandma has been doing some more digging through her garage and stumbled across some old theater programs. They are Hit The Deck (1930) A Hammersteins Theater Brochure which appears to be from the opening show 'Golden Dawn' (1927) Son Of The Gods (1930 Film?) The Vagabond King (1930) Sally (1923 Film) I know NOTHING about any of this sort of thing. Are they likely to be of interest to anyone? Were they printed in such numbers that there are many copies in much better condition still around? I don't want to throw away something that might be of value to collectors out there. They aren't in perfect condition (as seen in the pictures) but not falling apart either... Trash or Treasures?
Welcome, Ellis. You can do exactly what any of us would do: start searching on line for comparable items that are or have been for sale, see if they sold & for how much. Hard to know with most ephemera. Typically mass produced; typically thrown out or battered, meaning sometimes things become rare & desirable. Lots of people interested in history of theater & film, should be some kind of market.
Those appear to be souvenir programs for film showings, not for theatrical performances. I hadn't heard of those before. What are the contents like?
You know... Hit the Deck is a "lost" film. Bet that one would have some collector interest. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hit_the_Deck_(1930_film) Debora
With a quick glance, I see that all those films either didn't survive (as above) or don't survive in their original form. Do think there would be collector interest. Debora
So far, this is the only same image I’m finding on all of yours. That’s a good sign. http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/archiveitem/11182013.html PS I don’t think you posted “Sally”
