    They're not bears, they're dogs.

The second one looks like a Steiff "Hexie", but there was a Japanese company that did knock-offs that were very similar. What is that red bit on his chest? Does he have an ear button or hole were a Steiff tag would have been? How big is he? Does he have solid black shoe-button type eyes, or are they white with black?

Can we get better pics of the first one? From what I can see, it doesn't look like Steiff.

Neither dog plush has eyes, both ears were sown to the side of the head,I poked my finger in the first dog ear I saw no hole. The second dog has what appears to be red thread where something was on the thread, the larger dog measure about 12 : long SAM_4507.jpeg SAM_4506.jpeg SAM_4505.jpeg SAM_4504.jpeg

Thanks for the additional pics! I don't think that either of them are Steiff. I included a link below with very detailed photos of what Hexie should look like. He was produced from 1954-1974 and came in several different sizes.

The differences are subtle, but definitely there. When looked at from the front, the Steiff's front shoulders stand out from his sides rather than being straight underneath his body. He has "ankles" with round, well defined feet. His name tag is affixed to his collar and wouldn't have been attached to his chest with red thread. His ears would not have been sewn to his head, but he would have an ear tag (or a hole if it had been removed). While yours is missing a lot of his mohair, I would still expect to see some of his airbrushing. He's a cute little fella though! :)
