Old Spongeware piece does it go together and who made it.

    Not sure about these pieces. I got them together from a thrift store. First not sure if they go together the 3 3/4" tall by 5 1/2" across pot looks like it should have a lid that fits inside. Second the 6" "lid" is a lot browner (the pots secondary color is more reddish). First do they go together and second are these Red Wing or made by someone else?

    Can you show pictures of the bottom and give us some idea of the height?

    Sorry forgot the bottom pic and without the lid the pot is 3 3/4" tall dimensions are in OP.

    Hi Bryan - Sorry, I can't help with an ID but the glaze is unusual. You don't see red in these very often.

    I'm having internet problems tonight so I can't give you an address, but there used to be a very active RedWing pottery user group which was easy to find online. They were always helpful when I had questions about identification. You should google RedWing Collectors Society and see if they can answer your question.

    My guess is that they were not original to each other.
    I agree the crock looks like it should have a lid that fits inside the rim.

    3 3/4" isn't very tall.
    Would it be a butter or cheese crock?
