Wouldn't be surprised. Design borrows heavily from ROLEX President's watch which was popular then.

If you click on the picture of the face, you'll see that a banner beneath the Liberty Bell says "The American Way Company." Was there such a company? Could this have been an employee gift?

And sure enough - it's AMWAY!

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amway

The watch might have been their equivalent of the Pink Cadillac given to "super-producers" of Mary Kay Cosmetics.

Bev aka thelmasstuff Colored pencil artist extraordinaire ;)

Betsy De Vos is married to the son of Rich De Vos who, with his friend Jay Van Andel, started Amway. At different sales levels you get different gifts. Diamonds usually travel around in big RVs from convention to convention inspiring the troops. If it sounds like I know too much, I do. We were Amway distributors for a couple of years back in the 80s.

Has initials in the middle on back? Did seiko use real diamonds back then ?

It always helps to have a magnifying glass handy when looking at jewelry. Or flatware. Or clocks. etc. etc.

The initials are BJW. No doubt for the person it was presented to.

    Real diamonds? On the dial?

Probably not real diamonds , why would they cover up the seiko name with a diamond on the face?

I don't see Seiko on the face at all. Only on the back.

Seiko is there it's hidden behind the 12 o'clock diamond, on the pic you can see the S in the left side of the diamond

    Ah, so it is.

But the point of all that decoration is the fact that this watch was created for AMWAY as an award for "achievement" of some level (possibly the Diamond level mentioned by Bev above) of sales production. The company cared more about the bling than making sure that the watch maker's name was visible on the dial.

Unlikely, it was from the regular SEIKO line of watches. Would have been selected as a recognition item by AMWAY from a catalog of promotional items manufactured specifically for that purpose.

Really? With all that special "AMWAY" decoration on the dial? I can see the basic watch being something that was "customizable" with options, though. Is that what you mean, Debora?

Yes. Should have written "... a catalog of promotional items available for customization." or some such.
