Hoping someone can put a time frame on these patches. Don't know where else to go. I can't find another Boston Red Sox patch exactly like mine.

Try searches something like: early baseball teams and also Boston Red Sox history.
If no one answers before I get on my computer I'll try too.

Looks like the 1908? version? Could it really be that old?

    Yes '08.
If packed away safely then maybe.
Perhaps the fabric folks will chime in about that.

I'm not sure what machines existed back then to stitch such a thing... However, many could machine stitch such things by hand as well so I suspect someone here should be able to analyse the method used.
I used to have a woman do our Classic Chevys of San Diego club jackets with our name, the mid 50's Chevy emblem, and more, and she did all of them on her machine by hand! Amazing to see. They were beautiful and I still have mine.

Is that "B" piece actually a patch, or a piece of embroidery cut from a piece of cloth (cap, shirt, jacket, etc)??

It's an older patch, but not OLD older. I'd guess it's about the same age as the Boy Scouts patch. A lot of Red Sox fans would jump on it.

Were the Doves absorbed by them?

Evelyb. According to the site on the logos the look drastically changed after 1908. How can you tell this is from the 50's or 60's?
