Old Paris remembrance memorial vase?

    Old Paris remembrance memorial vase? Any thoughts ? I originally thought it’s simple wedding vase but then the poppies flowers.

    I did not know poppies represented remembrance? Very charming piece. At first I thought it might be a bridal vase but it seems to small.

    As far as I kow the connection between poppies and remembrance originated during WWI, when poppies bloomed on the battlefields of Flanders where so many soldiers had died.

    If this vase is Old Paris, which I don't think it is, it would be pre-1870.
    I think your vase is post-1870, but pre-WWI. So if I am correct about the poppies of Flanders, this is not a remembrance vase.

    Old Paris porcelain isn't this frilly. The nice thing about Old Paris is the almost minimalist style, with clean lines and delicate decorations.

    Does the gaps inside suggest its a reproduction or a more like a 20century piece?

    I may have to amend my opinion about Kaiserpoo's other vase. French, maybe, instead of German. And a tad earlier than I thought. However, the bumpy texture on the painted cartouche is giving me pause -- perhaps painted over what was there originally? Dunno for sure.
