Can anyone tell me about this? I think it's a painting - of a very unusual little girl!

Is it a painting (the rose looks like it is but maybe added later; paint seems newer?) - I can't feel any ridges like you usually can with a painting.
I took a couple of close ups that you'll see the cracks even better if you enlarge it; would someone put a print on wood like this? (look at photos of the back - it is some kind of wood veneer & where it has a slice missing you can see the wood underneath it - can anyone tell it's age by that?

Also the frame looks like it's part of the wood interior that was painted or printed on - there are no screws or staples on it.

Finally, there is no signature that I can find.

    PS - It measures 28" x 21"

It's old (I think) & unusual - just the way I like them! lol

Thank you for any help with this thing!

Could be airbrushed. I think I see some in the hair and the knuckles and in the hollows of the eyes.

Substrate looks to be some type of plywood. Maybe some shrinking medium to crackle it?

It's a faux primitive. Value is decorative. Here's a real one.

Naive paintings can sometimes come across as creepy.

I think the painting is creepy too. The proportions are so off it's a little scary. My opinion of course. She looks like Annabelle's little sister.

Definitely modern work made to look old. Definitely creepy too! I like her!

Not old, but trying to look that way from artificially applied "craquelure" (and I am sure I spelled that incorrectly. ) From the "large eyes era."

Bakers, you didn't spell it wrong! The word is indeed "craquelure"...

Somehow it didn't look right (and it isn't in the "spellcheck dictionary, I guess.)

It is not applied cracks - that's the wood I am pretty sure

If it's the wood, why doesn't it show up in her hair, or her lips or the rose or even much of the clothing?
