How do you tell old jadite from the newer? These eggcups stand 4" tall.

    Hi,
OH God the memories they bring back. I had one for sale in a yard sale and two women ended up fist fighting over one of the ones I had. When I first saw the fight and the blood flying I thought Candid Camera and looked for the cameraman. Ended up with the police and the two arrested. If they knew I had 10 more in the basement they might have started WWlll!:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Exactly! Remember when the jadeite coffee mugs were the rage on ebay, I think Japanese people were collecting them? They were going for high prices!! God loved me then because I ran across my big box of them and sold 'em! Thanks to everyone here who discussed the high prices on vintage objects! I still have a few other pieces of jadeite, but presently, they don't seem to be in high demand.

Not sure if this helps or not but Amazon had an eggcup listed although it's now out of stock. It is under the title:

I tried to find some old eboo listings where the sellers were selling repro jadite egg cups for reference, but came up empty. They used to say in the listing it was a repro. I know Mosser, M Stewart and Cracker Barrel sold repro items.... but.

These egg cups and the handled jadite vases both were reproduced and both are very hard to tell which is new and which is old.

They are quite pretty nonetheless and you captured the color nicely.

Just a guess, I think they are vintage.

Thanks for all the input. Not sure what I will do with them.

If I were you I would sell them. You can always say in your listing you are not sure if they are vintage or newer repros if you sell on eboo.

I never knew these were faked! I looked at the listing that said they were repros and those certainly appeared to be reproductions! Yours look original to me.

I think jadite was more a fad than a true collecting trend. Most people liked the look and didn't really care much or know much about the origin. Once the newer stuff flooded in the market basically collapsed for all but the rarest pieces. I treat it all as new. And it still will sell if it's cheap enough (and I mean cheap)!
