I found this old necklace at a thrift shop. Is it a talisman pendant? What is with the circular holes in it? 20171115_122739.jpg 20171115_122710.jpg 20171115_122644.jpg 20171115_122659.jpg 20171115_122651.jpg

It is a hobby piece using bits and pieces.
The rectangular thing was once the focal connector of a three strand (beaded?) necklace. It looks like it is upside down, the two loops which are now at the top would be at the bottom with dangles attached to it.
None of the elements are Kuchi.

I couldn't find anything like yours, but this Yemeni necklace has bead strands which pass through a central rectangular amulet case holder with two loops at the bottom, so you get an idea:

Your focal connector is not Yemeni, but could be Arab, or Arab influenced East African.

Fantastic :) thanks! It caught my eye so I bought it. I'll probably salvage it for my own creation

Sounds perfect, nice that it is appreciated and given a good (re)purpose. With glass beads maybe?
Ethnic jewellery has been recycled for centuries, either within the same culture, or in others. Would love to see the end result.
