Featured Old jewelry pin that looks very old

Anyone have any idea on this, how old it might be?

 

Not sure why I always seem to get double images when I post, but I know it must be that I'm not doing it in one linear process.

 

The design is a Jerusalem cross. Don't know age, others can help with that.

 

The design is 1000 years old, if not older. The pinback is 1950s or later and costume, but it could easily be a replacement. The front...no idea. It could be 100 years old and silver and could be last week and costume.

 

I'll bet on some age for it...something about the art on the back, an' the way some of the face details have 'moved' in the firing. I agree the pin-back seems newer. Lovely...thanks!

 

The pin construction looks contemporary to the front to me.
Unfortunately it has lost the cannetille on the top arm of the cross, and a quarter of the cannetilles in the central circle.

It could be cast from an older piece, but I would need to see better photos.
The glare of the flash makes it difficult for me to see and say anything else about it.
Jewellery photos generally benefit from being taken in daylight (not bright sunlight) against a light background.

 

If it was cast, then would it be done in such small parts, since one fell off?

My dad was a mold maker, so I grew up around them.

I'm pretty sure it tested gold, but I can never tell with the low cost test I'm using.

 

Looks like it was cast,air bubbles on all surfaces.

 

Three fell off, and it could indeed have been cast in parts.
They could also have fallen off the original, although that would be a bit odd, since there are so many complete originals.

The colour looks silvery, but that could be the artificial light. And I would expect a gold one to be more refined.
