Old hutch

I just picked up this old hutch and wanted to see if anyone could tell me what it might of been I know the back and shelf were added and it looks like the back was open at one point.

With those modifications, maybe an old radio cabinet.

 

I’m sure Brad will be along to give some good info. I’ve got a feeling it is vintage or newer, the exposed hinges make me think it was an inexpensive item from Sears catalog or somewhere similar. Think it was brown piece painted white recently to make more attractive to the young’uns. Door handles are interesting. But I’m furniture-challenged.

Btw I think the cabinet is generally what’s called “case furniture.”

Since it is yours you could name it “Justin case.”

From what I have found on line thanks to the information I have got from here and what my wife has founit looks like a 1930 sparks willington sparton radio cabinet that may have had the legs cut down.
