Don't know if this was some kind of lamp/lighting globe - simply a vase/bowl of some sort - or something else. It's about 8" in diameter - it's pretty thick/heavy glass. Dark yellow/amber/honey color - until I point a bright flashlight at it - then it has a green glow to it (normal LED flashlight) - under UV light it glows a bright yellow/orangey/red. The opening has a lip/collar turned inward a few inches. The ridges on the outside seem to have been hand formed/scraped - if that makes sense. Any ideas what it is/was? Seems like it has some age to me.

Last 4 pics show the green from the normal flashlight, and the glow under UV. And of course, thanks again!

Not easily - I don't have very large hands and my hand won't fit in the opening - and the inside isn't flat for anything to rest on. Doesn't seem like that's what it's intended for to me - but I could be wrong. I often am!

The top opening reminds me of some W. J. Rozendaal vases, but I just don't know about those "ribs" or "pleats" or whatever word correctly describes the exterior "ridges".

Very interesting - I've not seen Rozendaal's pieces before. Thanks SB!

That is strange. My wife would put a piece of fruit in the bottom of it to trap fruit flies as , when she isn't looking, I would try to let them go outside.

That can be made to maintain flowers for a better result, or like for ikebana, I've some flies catchers but they are a lot less nice as yours ;-)

Ohhh...fly catcher might make sense, although most of the ones I'm seeing seem to have an elongated neck on top and/ or a way to attach a hanger.

Fly catcher is used with the hole downside, the flies search light to the upper part and cannot go out, here it's not possible to hang it or to put it downside, it's more a vase in my opinion.
