    Any correlation you think?
There is also a tiny star-shaped center.
Wish it was larger, but it's only 1/2".

I think it's probably just a design and not intended to be a Star of David. I've seen designs like this before.

It's just that the 6 pointed star has been a Jewish symbol for so long, I wasn't sure anyone but Jews would use/wear it.

Not that the Magen David hasn't been associated with Judaism for centuries, but it didn't really become so firmly identified as a Jewish symbol until the late 19th-early 20th century. I'm with Bev, believe it's just a hexagram used as a decorative device - not where I can check right now, might be in the Big Book of Buttons, but your silver-luster button probably dates to around the 1880s, when new and fully silvered, the center star and faceted border bits would have looked like cut-steels...

Thanks, Cheryl. I don't think you need to look it up (although, thank you for offering!).
I believe Bev and you about it's non-link.

Have you found out any further information on this button? My father just found the same exact glass button while digging in his back yard. This is our family home that was built in 1900 and his family migrated here from Germany in late 1800's. They were Jewish Germans, so this is definitely the Star of David!

it is not. it is also a brewery star seen on many beer outlets.
the meaning is a triangle of fire/water/air and the three ingredients water/malt/hops.
