This little guy is 11" tall. Has some chipping on top of his hat decoration but doesn't look noticeable. There are two impressed marks, hard to read though. Is this an older piece? Qing?

The lot was passed. The first bid was $74, but that apparently didn't meet the reserve. I checked and it was never offered again on Live Auctioneers. There were other similar figurines of varying degrees of quality. Live Auctioneers is free to sign up with.

I have a similar piece I’ve thought of inquiring here about. Short of doing that my question is about the bottom surface of this piece. It has that rough almost crosshatched imprint. It kind of looks like it made contact with a piece of woven textile before hardening/firing. I’ve found this multiple times in Chinese pieces. What explains this?

Thanks. I did know that. Any idea why the texture on bottom of mine an OPs figures?

Dried on canvas or burlap to prevent it from sticking to a solid surface. If it does stick to the material, it is easily peeled off without causing damage.

I love the colors on this piece.

 I didn't see the second piece when I posted. I like that one too, but I'm partial to more vibrant colors.
