I’ve got a new light box and working out how to arrange the lighting so bear with me with the photos. I think I need some of those mini tripod LEDS.
    I digress.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this brooch please. It’s very fragile and not in great condition but I thought it was interesting.
It appears to be a transfer on glass and then reverse painted with some clever application of some this pieces of MOP which light up the windows and the mountain thing (what is that?) when it catches the light.
It looks very old with the long pin and the curled wire hinge and clasp but I need expert help to decide how old as I’ve never seen a pin like that before.
    It’s nearly 6cm across.
    Thanks for any help :)

    Lovely, K.:)
Do you mean a fountain thing? Looks like a water jet fountain.
The lady's costume, or what we can see of it, looks 1840s-60s.
I think it is an 1840s-60s souvenir pin from a place with a water jet fountain.;)

Odd looking fountain but you are correct, a mountain is a little odd :hilarious:
Quite an early one then! Thankyou x

Almost looks like a whale's flipper! But I think fountain is the correct answer. This would look so beautiful in a little shadowbox picture frame. I am thinking of doing that with some of my own pins.

Agree, given the volume of woman figure's skirt, early Victorian. And a water jet fountain. Not Versailles or Geneva obviously, the two that come top of mind. No idea where. Oh, there's one in Strasbourg in the Parc de l'Orangerie. That's a possibility given orchard-like arrangement of trees.

There's one of those geyser things in Lake Geneva, but this looks like a smaller place.

The geyser thing in Lake Geneva was once in a different spot, but it 'only' dates from the late 1860s, if I remember correctly.

I wonder if there's one in or closer to Silesia? Wroclaw maybe?

I don't remember seeing one in Prague, which isn't far from Silesia. Or there may have been one, but it is no longer there. Which could be the case with other locations as well.

Hm. I’m vaguely wondering if this was Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens. Or somewhere similar. I’ve a vague feeling Hyde park had a spout fountain.

    That is brilliant information @kyratango
Thankyou so much. I had a suspicion it was interesting. I’ve long been on the lookout for Berlin Ironwork (and so far failed!)but I’ve not heard of Silesian Wirework before.
