Here you are. My first question.:)
Old Brass Bowl looks like a cigar ashtray, but it is not ashtray. It is with Hunting Horn handle.
Please help to find what I got. Found at Estate Sale as a part of collection and was told it was purchased in Europe. My husband says it is cigar ashtray, but I don’t think so though the Hunting Horn handle with rest for finger looks like holder for cigar. For me it looks like a money collector which was using after orchestra concert or something else. This bowl weights 11 oz. Made from brass and it is 6” dim x 1.5” H or with handle 7” W. Inside of bowl is also molded (?) hunting horn. There is some information at the bottom and it looks like it was “written” / Scratched with something sharp: Ex 2/53 A Mortahe E 5191 India. Please help! Got this bowl almost month ago, but because still don’t know what it is – can’t sleep….:sour: Feminine curiosity.:shame: Thanks!

it does look like a tastevin..but were they made of brass or would this have been silver plated? Not sure I would like the taste of brass/wine.

Yes it looks like a tastevin, but it is too big for it - 6" dim... It would be the same like drink from soup bowl... And it is solid brass with no any plating. The information at the bottom looks like an inventory description.... may be it was related to army. :wideyed:

Thank you! But I even couldn't think that information at the back is name of company, because it looks like somebody scratched it. Well.... now it means that my husband was right....... He said long time ago that it is cigar ashtray.....:meh: Like my daughter is telling me every time: "I hate when you are right!" ..... ;)

Cigar ashtray. My family were all smokers and this would have fit right into my uncle's den.

If you click on Full Image after you upload, photos will appear in the thread so we don't have to open a bunch of small links.

I'm going to suggest that the curved piece on top is a thumb rest, put your finger thru the hole underneath and use your thumb on top.
I'm doubtful about the cigar thing because it isn't slanted right.
