Old bowl? Help with identification please

    I see you've put this in the glass/pottery section but it appears to be metal, maybe pewter, from your photos. Is it actually some type of ceramic?

    It appears to be a porringer or tastevin with a mounted soldier, Roman maybe. Can you make out any of the text?

    It looks like a medieval seal in the center. If you can read some of the writing, you can probably place it exactly. How did it get so corroded?

    Pewter, fairly new IMHO, left outside for a rainy winter = corrosion like this ..jes' sayin'
