    Hi everyone,
I bought this sgraffito large pottery jug on Saturday. White clay, so I'm thinking Ohio, although the design looks tropical/Mexican. It looks like it has been incised on the bottom with a signature, but it has long since worn away. Any ideas on maker or origin? I'm have a feeling it's trash but thought I would post a query. I only paid $1 so I will not be offended no matter what! Thanks!

I do think modern import. Could be Mexico but also see some Lombok pottery similar to this.

Found this one on ebay listed as being from Pier 1. No specific origin was given.

LOL thanks Brad! I knew it was bad, but didn't know it was THAT bad! Into the Goodwill pile it goes!

I agree with Brad. I doubt that there was a signature that wore away...it's just too new for that. Decorator item with a vaguely "antique" look. Very well could be Mexican, though, based on the way the handle is made. There was a lot of Mexican import pottery with these same handles, colors and glaze treatment that started showing up about 10 years ago or so.

I have nearly the same item in tans and browns that I got a few years ago at Christmas Tree Shop for $12.99.
