It has been a couple of years since I catalogued furniture and this near pair has me stumped. I originally thought oh, French bergeres but then they started looking English to me! I complete forget what the term is for the reeded downswept legs on these. Also, there is carved drapery/tassel motif and I can't remember if the apron plaque is carved with rinceau or something else. These appear to be mahogany with traces of parcel gilt item_9738_catimage_1.jpg item_9738_catimage_4.jpg item_9738_catimage_6.jpg item_9738_catimage_8.jpg item_9738_catimage_10.jpg . Thank you for looking!

Wondering if they could be Napoleon style? They have reversible cushion and backside of chair covered in Napoleon bee fabric.

Its a mishmash of several styles really. Id guess 1920s-40s. They are lovely.

Formal living room furniture is all I've got. Too old to have spent their lives in those nasty plastic slip-covers, but no one sat in these much.

I would think the (very well done) upholstery is later given it is the same for both chairs and the chairs are not a true pair.

Yes when I catalogued them, I stated 'near pair'. There is a true term for these type of legs. I hate that I cant remember!

I would think Edwardian channel back chairs ca 1910-20. The front legs are a kind of stylized reeded neo-cabriole form, at least from what I can see. Agree that the very handsome upholstery is later.
    A beautiful pair!

Thank you! The estate has lots of wonderful Edwardian and Sheraton furniture - some from Kaplan Furniture Company. The Art glass and porcelain though is such eye candy! We just uploaded session 1. I doubt I will be able to get session 2 finished for another month.
