This Oil on board - 30 X 40 CM - is signed R. Walsh, and the label on the back indicates the artist is Rosemary Walsh of 2566 Lundys Lane in Niagara Falls.

I expect she is a talented amateur - I can't find much information about her online.

One interesting bit of information I did find is in the link below. This web page talks about the house at 2566 Lundys Lane. Near the bottom is a photo of rosemary Walsh standing in front of that house. It indicates that Rosemary moved from that house in 1965. So I guess that this painting dates sometime before that date.

Whoa! There's someone influenced by the French Impressionists.

I would think the date of this photograph has been mis-identified. It appears to have been taken in the 1930s.

    Yes, definitely impressionist inspired!

I just emailed the person responsible for the information on the web site I listed. Here's their reply:

"Rosemary was an avid painter, but a hobbyist. She was also very fond of her brownie camera, and used some of the photos she took as basis for some of her paintings.

Rosemary moved to Niagara as a child and spent most of her remaining life there. She enjoyed being outdoors and took camping trips by canoe up north."

It's charming. Has a naive quality to it. And a bit static too; wouldn't be at all surprised it if was painted from a photograph. Frame looks 1950s.
