Picked up this serving spoon at the thrift for a whole 39 cents. Pretty large spoon with overall length of 10". Bowl is roughly 3 1/2" x 2 1/2". Handle is marked sterling. Bowl and shank appear to be plate. Marked twice but both show quite a bit of wear. The mark shown is by far the best of the two. Any idea of maker? Would this have come like this? .... or has someone inserted a plated spoon into a hollow handle off something else?

Not too unusual for sterling handles on plated or steel
I'd guess the pattern to be in the 1900-1920 range
