Here's a 3" jug I found yesterday that I bought mostly out of curiosity. It doesn't appear old,has an steel or copper fastener on the handle, and is extremely well sealed with wax.
    It' heavy and feels full.
Can anyone guess why it's sealed & what may be inside-it was cheap & a fun, weird share.

I can't say anything about the little jug, but the thing on the handle is a "hog ring". A specialized tool is used to close them in a hog's nose, (or around other things).

3"? That is very small. My first thought was a honey jug. I think they used to seal them with wax for shipping. But I don't know at 3"

Is the wax pattern on the side opposite the handle just a fancy dribble, or might it mean something?

Upholsterers use those more than hog farmers do.

Frankoma did similar in the 50's-60's, an' they were sold sealed in the same manner...full to the brim with honey far more flavorful than anything else on offer retail. I bought several for my family back then.

No Frankoma marks yet maybe they had a paper label.Still the upholstery/hog ring's weird ?
Could be honey to motivate your hog,or make him into a sofa.
