I normally wouldn't have gotten this, but was purchased at a sale where other vintage art treasures showed up (for example, the Jere I posted on Finds...) so for a few dollars tossed it in with everything else. What kind of animal? It weights almost 4lbs. Where it is worn at the base shows a copper color. I believe it is solid copper with some kind of enameling or coating unless I have that wrong. Has anyone ever seen similar?

Maybe an antelope! Shot with arrow, possible Native American? I do like the looks of it.

The heartline is Zuni, but beyond that...dunno.

Thank you to everyone who took a look. I have to say that it isn't my favorite piece. I just thought, "Odd!" and combining with 4 lbs of copper, figured, who knows? After other treasures revealed themselves at this sale, thought maybe I better take a chance.

The photo might be making it look better than it actually is. There is some strange treatment to the antlers, kind of a goopy gold coating that is slightly compromised.

It has the weight of a door stop. Still going to hang on for additional comments in case someone recognizes the maker. Thank you! :):)

If that's copper, I'll lay odds it's African. Zimbabwe or close by.
