Hi, I would look under gothic style. English or possibly French its hard to tell from photographs. They almost look like church/chapel chairs. x

I thought they might be church chairs, too. Could the three-pointed star represent the trinity?

It is a triskelion or triskele, which means three-legged. In Christianity it represents the holy trinity, but it is originally pre-Christian and is also used in non-Western cultures. It was used by many Neolithic cultures, east and west, and became an important Celtic symbol:

It also appears in the flags of Sicily and the Isle of Man.
Since a triskelion is often carved in church pews, etc, these could have come from a church or other Christian building.

That's a triskelion, not a three pointed star. These are in the style of that whole Arthurian romantic revival which the Victorians loved. May well be English and they're nicer than most.

Can you show the legs of the table legs? From what I can see, it doesn't match the chairs.

Agreed, the table looks 1930s/40s oak to me. That refectory style.

I think they are missing the spikes but look like inquisition chairs to me. No comfort allowed.
