I’m interested in getting more information on this nursing rocker we recently purchased.
The item has no identifying marks or stamps.
Please see photos. Interested in knowing year, value, maker, or any other info! Thanks for the help!!

Looks fairly modern to me. Not sure that jute seat would be original but could be if a modern import.

Thanks. The chair is very fragile and we really can’t sit on it. It creeks quite badly. It appears very old. There are no screws or modern items holding it together. The place where the rope seating meets wood is heavily worn and the stain is worn off. One spindle on the back has been replaced, guessing the original broke.

When we say fairly modern around here, it still could mean 50-70 years of age. Anything post-1950 is fairly modern when it comes to furniture. Even imports from the 70s-80s have 35-45 years of age to them by now. Most chairs were made without screws or nails, regardless of age. That jute seat is typical of post WWII chairs from Scandinavia and, later, the Eastern Block countries. Not typical for American or Western European chairs.

Doesn't mean this couldn't be an older chair. I am just providing my observation about this chair based on what I know. If I have any expertise, it is in late 19th and 20th century American furniture. I also spent a fair amount of time in the furniture business in the 80s-90s so have observed the import market a bit. There is much that falls outside my realm of expertise and would be happy to learn more about this chair if this is the case.

I was just told a nursing Rocker is a rocker that is too big for a child but not a full size rocker. Used by women for nursing or sewing.

I guess I would have preferred a rocker with arms to support my arm with the baby's head in it .. oh well .. Joy.

Yep. I'd go for the big armed soft recliner .. feet up, head back, babe resting in supported arms, Antiques road Show on the telly, and a cuppa cha on the sidetable .. :) .. Joy.

Oh, I'd also like to be seated there festooned in AJ's coral beads, a couple of Bronwens lovely cameos pinned securely on my shoulder, a few of Anuns lovely silver bowls filled with bob bons, and the gentle strains of 'You are the Sunshine of my Life" playing in the background !! Sorry folks .. I just can't help myself, over and out .. Joy :)
