I am a stage fencer. I need to learn much, but I love this kind of swordplay.

My dream is to fine a vintage fencing sabre (guard) like on this picture.

Welcome! Do you know a lot about old swords, or do you just use them?

 

The guard I am looking for is a fencing guard from the early 50's. You can put every fencing (sabre) blade, handle and pommel on it. Stage fencers often put a wider epee blade on it, so it looks more dangerous instead of the vers thin sabre blade. So, if it is a complete sabre from the 50's, I really would buy the handle and pommel as well. But the guard is most important for me.

I used to do theatrical fencing, which is probably the same as stage fencing. That was ca 50-45 yrs ago. I also did some olympic fencing (that is the term, I didn't compete in the olympics ).

Fencing was a thing in my family, for generations. I think I was the first girl in the family to do it though. My dad taught me at first.

Have you thought about finding someone to make one for you?

 

You mean a blacksmith?

 

Any number of people could probably make it depending on the metal used. Blacksmith,auto body repairman,sheet metal shop,etc.
