Featured nice little pottery vase

I found this today at an antique shop, though I didn’t purchase it thinking it’s antique. It just looked like a nice little handmade pottery item perfect for Fall.

But I figured it would be fun to ask here in case I’m missing something.

Studio pottery is notoriously difficult to id. Theres tons of "JD" potters,so good luck ! Itis a pretty piece.

Not long ago, I was searching for a JD mark with no luck but I remembered seeing a vase that was somewhat similar to your piece. I just found it but her mark is different. Although her mark could have changed over time.

While searching for the one above, I did find one other JD that uses the letters but slightly different. The pieces shown are thrown without carving but, that doesn't mean that's all this potter does.

That website is worth checking every few months as it's constantly adding new marks.

 

Wow! It’s very similar to the work of Janet Dodge. I wonder if she used other signatures.
