Was curious if anyone here might recognize the design style, time period, what kind of wood this is...etc. Super interested in its history, but I’ve spent nearly a week googling things and am more confused than when I started! There is a faded signature on the back, but I’m thinking it could be a family’s name that owned it. No other noticeable markings.

Looks like 1920s Deco era, probably European

I agree,1920s,possibly Italian. Salvatore(?) could be the designer. Lovely bed.

AACFE8C4-3B5F-4877-849E-F945D75BA846.jpeg Thank you! I could look through these posts for hours. I’ve always loved antique malls, I just rarely know what I’m lookin at!

Ghopper- that’s what I was thinking, but then couldn’t find any deco examples that have the metal decorations? Maybe it’s a mutt :)

Johnny- SALVATORE. You’re probably right! I kept looking at that s as a lower-case g....ha!

Think maybe just a bit later 1930s or so. Could be Italian but was also thinking French or Belgian. Center is burl walnut. Border might be Zebrawood.

No, not a mutt. The metal mounts used by the manufacturers might vary, but I think the consensus is still that this is an Art Deco, western European bed frame. Nice!!

Hadn’t come across Zebrawood in my (very remedial) research yet, good insight!
