I have four big goblets, 8" tall. Here are two of them.

I'm checking the R site and they list these as water goblets. I'm assuming that they are also intended for red wine, right? (There are no other appropriate glasses there for red wine.)

Next question regards the etch mark. C WF 3.jpg
On the R site and also on eBay, some glasses are indicated to be "Artist Signed." Is it safe to assume this is an actual signature, not just the mark above?

    As ever, heartfelt thanks.

Hello Northern ridge. I would call them Bolla (Bola) Grand Goblets.
Yes .....Artist signed would be an Actual Signature! Water Goblets just doesn't make sense to me. But Bola Grande is the style.

Thank you, Bdigger. That's good info. Alas, it does not seem to be an effective KW on eBay.

Another question. The R site lists these at $239.99. But they also show "Toasting Glasses," same size of 8", but at a much reduced price. I hope someone can tell me what the story is, because I'm confused.

Also, I have an older impression of hoping to get half of what the R site "gets." Is this old impression still realistic?

I have seen these referred to as "balloon wine goblets" for red wine.

Sometimes you are lucky to get 1/3 of what they are asking. I use there site for ID help only & most of the time do not even look at the prices.

That is really helpful. I will definitely add Best Offer to my BIN listings.

Do you happen to know why the so-called Toasting Glasses at the same height are so much cheaper?

I add this to all of my listings. It does not cost anything & you do not have to accept any offer. I will send a counteroffer even to the ridiculous ones that want a 50% discount or more. The counteroffer is usually good for at least 48 hours & there is a note on your listing that says you have received an offer so this may push someone into buying the item at full price.:smuggrin::smuggrin:

    Not a clue. :confused::confused:

Thank you so much, Peggy. I've been selling on and off for over twelve years. A lot of what I've had has been either so rare or in demand, I've sold mainly by auction, with low starting prices. (One auction started at 9.99 and closed in seven days at 1137.00. That was fun!) So anyway, BIN is definitely new to me. I really appreciate your weighing in with valuable info.

Maybe someone else will come along with an answer re: Toasting Glasses...

Northern, Millennium is the one with the different patterns, right? (love & health & happiness, etc...)

I seem to recall that with the year 2000 looming, they were selling boxed pairs of "love" or "happiness", etc glasses for New Year's Eve. I remember them being the flutes, but I guess they might have been the balloons, too.

Why, however, these glasses would be cheaper than the "original" ones, I don't know. Are they somehow not the same? (Quality, heft, where made, whatever?)

Otherwise, I can't imagine that it makes sense!

I would think that same as SBSVC - must have to do with quality.

Yes, their Toasting Glasses have five themes. I can't quite tell if the patterns are different. They were produced from '96 - 2005:

Yes, I imagine you are both right. Mine weigh over a pound apiece, and are pretty darned impressive.

It appears that the glasses that are the most expensive are those with the designs of "5 toasts" ... that is that they have 1 each of the 5 patterns cut on them instead of just a repeat of one pattern (love, prosperity, health ... etc)

That may be, in which case Northern's (which only have one design repeated all the way around) would be the cheaper variety? I still think there has to be something more to it.

I was still working in the China Dept in '98.

Waterford Flutes were boxed in twos and each year was a different pattern.
You say '96-2005. Guess that is correct as I remember selling 3 different patterns before leaving.
The pattern you show was sold before I left in '98. It was one of the more popular patterns.

So to answer your question, there may be more flutes available than the other pieces you show. Therefore reducing the price because they are more readily available.

Does quirkygirl have the clue? That the "sets" had just one pattern???

It doesn't seem enough to substantiate the difference in price... but maybe???

I thank you all for weighing in. But I definitely remain clueless. At the R site, mine retail for $239 and change. The toasters run from $79 and change to $114.

And as to what I'll price mine at, for a pair, maybe $199.99 BIN with OBO added.

    Thank you all again!
