I found this little beauty in the charity shop today :)
I’d love to know the name of this type of embroidery please and when this was likely made?
Is it French? That was my best guess! Some nice enamel and gems on the frame.
The lining is silk but sadly no labels.
    Thankyou for looking :)

I have a whole rug done like that. I think it is called chain embroidery. Love the purse. I sure don't find things like that at our thrifts. That would have gone on their online auctions.

It looks like "tambour chain stitch".

I was going to post this rug on Antiquers eventually but since KSW asked here it is.

I suspect someone made that. You could buy the frames, then add your own embroidery. Might be French, might be Czech. The frame that is.

Fabulous purse frame. Can see why you got it, KSW. Looks like a piece of jewelry!

Agree this needs it's own separate thread. A lot of people don't check back on threads they've already read or commented on, so you may not get views and therefore responses, Lark. I'd start a new thread under "Textiles" with Full Image photos. Looks like a nice rug. :)
