Hello! I'm new to this forum, and my grandma found this thing the other day, and we simply can't figure out what it is.
    Does anyone have any idea?
    Kind regards

    Hi and welcome!

I don't know what it is but someone probably will. It looks like there is a stamp on the inner lid, any chance you can make out what it says? Are there any maker names or other marks on the item? About how big is it?

    Thank you very much!

I really tried my best to figure out what the stamp says, I even tried to adjust brightness and add filters to make the stamp appear more, but it's really hard to tell.
There are no markings on the tool or the box. But on the measuring device there is a logo of an elephant-looking animal.

It looks similar to a Schrader valve core. Seeable picture and size would help.

Absolutely! We contacted the national museum in Oslo, and they couldn't even give us an answer on what this thing is.
    Thank you, Gila! :)

Unfortunately I only have two pictures of this, and can't get more closeups bc my grandma lives 200miles away.
    Heres the other photo.

Looks like a 'snap' punch to me to mark where holes are to be put in something.
Or... It is fit into some mechanism to put holes into something thin or soft like leather by hand operation or mechanically/automatically.

Could it part of a tattoo tool?

    lloyd249 it's not hoarding if it's valuable

everything in tattooing is surgical stainless steel, looks like a leather punch and grommet for collars and i think that might be a lamb facing left

After a number of clicks on the pic they are more reasonable to see. Why do people post these tiny pics lately?

It looks like a drill stop for a watchmaker's lathe.

Is the plate solid brass or are the holes "lined" with steel?

An awl for punching different size hole in leather?

I've noticed that clicking on the image name it opens in a separate tab and sometimes gives a zoom tool (sometimes not, probably depending on the size of the image) but clicking on the thumbnail does not.

Unfortunately, you have to select each separately if it's a gallery. I've can't remember being able to enlarge anything in a gallery.

There's an emblem printed in black on the inside cover of the box...

Maybe for drilling precision pilot holes in wood?

    KoT: por que?

If images enlarged in the gallery I would use it - that's why I always place mine in the message, or post, or reply, or conversation or thread - whatever you call it!!
