I picked these up at the auction on Friday & I need some help with my description.

The parrot is 13 1/2"tall. The rooster is 14" tall. The cockatoo is 9 1/2" tall. The vase is 8" to the tip in the back & is 6 1/8" to the side edge.

Does anyone have a good website that helps with the descriptive words for art glass? Once I get past millefliori & aventurine I am pretty well lost. :p:rolleyes::eek::wacky::confused::D:D

That last one looks like "Jack in the Pulpit meets Cornucopia."

Well, definitely point out "original labels" on the ones that have those. Buyers love original labels on Murano.

I think the first one could possibly use the keyword: "Latticino". The pieces I've had that were true latticino had a tighter cross pattern, but maybe this qualifies, too. A few latticino parrots on Ebay in any case. Not exactly the same, but might get you started:

I am not trying to sound like a seasoned expert. I just want to have the correct keywords in my titles & descriptions to attract the buyers. I am not stupid enough to post a listing with the title pretty orange & yellow glass rooster like some do. The way my sales have been going the last couple of months I'd be lucky if even 2 people found it.

Lucille - I have always thought that latticino referred to a ribbon like design. To me the design is like several individual threads going in a spiral effect.:confused::confused:

I tried clicking on your link, but there were no photos.:oops:

Is there a word that describes the 2 tone effect in the rooster & cockatoo?

Susan - When I bought that piece it came in a box lot & it was on its side. I was searching for "art glass cornucopia" & was quite surprised to see it was a c.1950s Murano vase. :jawdrop: When you do lay it on its side it does not sit flat on all 3 points. One of the feet is about 1/4" in the air.

The gold flecks in the pieces are called "aventurine" I would male sure to add that word in the description/title.

I have seen the 2 tone effect called SEGUSO. Seguso was a maker, so I'm not sure if it is proper to use that term. But I have seen it done. I suppose if you used Seguso Like or Style it would be ok.

    Thanks Bdigger!! :kiss::kiss:

Aventurine is one of the few words I am familiar with as far as art glass goes. :):)

I found some pieces listed with 1st Dibs & the design is similar to my parrot. They are calling it latticino so Lucille may be correct.

They also show a couple of the vases although they are on a solid base so they actually do look like a vase.

I was not suggesting in any way shape or form that you would in any way shape or form , put up a stupid title.....only that you have to be careful using words or terms you are unfamiliar with.......:oops::sorry:

I would use aventurine but not Sommerso - here are some examples of Sommerso glass. I bet those are heavy pieces:)

That is why I came here to ask the folks who know more about art glass than I do, so that I can write a title that will attract buyers.

I have actually gone an entire week with not a single offer for any of my items or any sales. I have never gone that long ever without anything happening while I had stuff listed & for the life of me I have no idea why or what I can do to change the situation. :(:(:banghead::banghead::banghead:

OK. I was asking because there was a Brazilian company that called itself Murano and the second piece in particular looks like their stuff, but you're safe as long as it specifies Italy.

The parrot weighs 7 pounds & the rooster is 6 pounds 9 ounces all by themselves. :jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop:
