I have 2 "sipping' jugs", each about 1 gallon size. First one appears to be an alkaline glaze. There's a half moon shaped indent that looks like it may have some lettering in it, but to me it looks like gibberish.

The second one is ovoid shape. I believe it was handmade as you can feel the depressions from a hand or fingers in the clay. It does have an unusual blue-black band at the handle top and another beneath the handle. At first glance I thought it was a repair but it's not, definitely an added color. Maybe that's a clue to the maker?

Any help identifying would be great! Thank you!

I'm sorry miss (or sir), but this a reputable site, and we don't talk about jugs here!

    LOL. j/k. Interesting jugs!

The first one is sealed. I can't tell what the yellowish stuff around the cork is, might be some type of wax that's hardened. The cork appears to have been cut off level with whatever sealer was used. I don't hear anything swishing around inside.

I like the ovoid one, too - have always been drawn to that shape.
