My friend Northernridge says you're a wonderful resource. These beads are seriously heavy. Deep red. All different shapes. They're from my friend's estate. Any idea what the material is? Thank you, Anne

Anne, welcome! I wish I could help with your beads, but I'm afraid I can't.

I must ask, however, how is Northernridge? It's been quite a while since we've seen her!

Reminds me of red jade. Or maybe red jasper.

Thank you. I found other listings for red coral that look the same. So I'm going with red coral. Thanks to all of you.

It appears to be tabulate coral which has been both dyed and coated. With beading, the type of necklace that would be sold at COLDWATER CREEK or similar.

¡Ojo! According to the eBay listing, this COLDWATER CREEK necklace is made with faux coral. Looks very much looks like yours so you may want to be doubly, doubly sure before you list yours.

It looks like dyed Chinese red coral to me too.

The mix of shapes and sizes do look like real coral.....likely dyed.
The fake coral is way more standardized..

Definitely dyed red coral, nice chunks. That very red (auspicious) colour is a favourite of many Chinese. The beads and style of the necklace are Asian as well.
