Can anyone give me info on this chair. It has a foot stool and reclines all the way back to a lying down position. Thanks

Looks like a newer (70-80's) "Old Hickory" style chair - But I said just "looks" - can you find a mark on the bottom of the chair or on the back of the legs?

Sorry. Way off. It's late 1800s. Just not sure on maker or if it was used in some kind of medical field or this is how all reclining chairs from that era was made.

I think your spot on in age , and most recliners were pretty simple at that time . It looks like oak , and that leather looks in great condition if its original .

Thanks. I had the leather redone. The place I used has been in business since the early 1900 so they still used the tools from that era. They did a great job. They were also able to re use the original buttons.

All I can think of is Morris Chair.

Are the arm rests as thick and slab-like as they look in the picture?
They look like a fence post cut in half lengthwise. Are the legs about the circumference of a fence post, too?

It has a sort of rustic, ranch style look.

They are about half in thickness. I'm thinking a Morris chair to. That is the only type of chair I have found similar. Which is the one in this picture. I'm also trying to place a value on it. Any suggestions?

This is an oak patent recliner circa 1900. Similar to a Morris chair but used a patented mechanism. Value is difficult. Not many want these today and location matters. I could pick up similar here in the Midwest for next to nothing needing upholstery. Since yours has that nice leather, it adds value. I could see this priced a few hundred or more in a shop that caters to mountain resort clientele for their cottages. In my Midwest semi-rural farmland location, this would have to be under $150.00 to even get a sniff. I am sure it would sit awhile. Large city locations might do a bit better.

Do you have it in your possession now so you can post more pictures?

If you were in a mountainous reagon i could see it going i could see $250 max.

At this point I hate to say but youll probably never get your money back out of it.

Here in the south east, unless you found the right buyer, $150

I've been offered way more. I've never been interested in selling it. Just trying to find out who might of made it and what it could be worth.

Plus most guides tell you to determine a value for a chair of this age is to take what it would of cost back then and the average income and then to multiply it by inflation (74). I've looked at many online sites and a chairs of this age with bad upholstery are listed in that range.

I really don't know what to say about your post of those items. No comparison to mine. Again I'm not trying to sell mine. That would be easy. I have 3 continuing standing offers of over 800.00. Again I just need help identifying it. But until I can pick it up and post pics of the mechanics I'll have to wait for better answers.
