Need Help Identifying Item

What is it for?

 

Looks like a "deja vu" item that was posted here or ebay in the not too distant past.

 

a hair slide...put a stick thru the holes and it fastens a ponytail...or other clump of hair !!

 

How heavy is it? As someone who has a ton of hair that is difficult to put up, I'm all for the massive hair thingies, but ... how much does it weigh?

 

What is it made of?
How long x wide is it?

 

Was the other one in the Metalware or Antique forum,I don't remember which.

It's metal around 7+ inches long and around 3 inches wide.It has brass and copper inlay/overlay with wriggle engraving.

Enlarged the photo,it is brass with copper inlay.

 

so......4 hair then.....................not so much....huh !

Well then.....it's art !

( & may I be so bold as to point out that I'm getting a little fed up with the lack of details being offered up by members who think our efforts r not so much more as just a guessing game ! )

I was in New York with a friend once, when I suddenly felt someone grabbing my fur coat (way back when people still wore fur). I looked at the person, an elderly lady with too much make up, and she just said rather loudly: "what fur".
My friend and I quoted that for years after, at totally irrelevant moments, but in the same demanding tone of voice.

 

I'd have only answered "MINE!"
