Thinking this might be called "Chinese export" (?) necklace. Stamped "Silver" on the back of the clasp. Just a simple necklace on a metal chain Question is about the black beads. They seem to be made of wood, definitely not glass or plastic. Just want to be sure I'm not missing some other material they could be. Thanks for taking a look!

Yes, it is a Chinese Export necklace. The silver clasp looks goldplated, and if the black beads are not cold, they could be black 'cinnabar' lacquer, rather than wood.

Either lacquer or the classic black coral, with odds on lacquer. No particular age on it, but it could go back into the 80s. They're still using identical clasps to this day, so it's no help at all.

Not coral for sure. Probably lacquer, then. Thanks Any Jewelry and Evelyb! :)
