This is one of those pictures people made
with butterfly wings back in the day, but the wings surround this photo of a Navy ship. I do not see any markings to help me figure out what ship it is Can anyone here help me? tell me where to look or how to search for it? thanks so much!!!

Hmm. The three flags in the V shape are (from the left) Brazil, UK and USA. The flag flying on the aft mast on the ship is definitely US, though. I can't find any identifying numbers on the ship, but that shape - 4 smokestacks in the flat middle section - and apparently no guns - might be searchable.

It appears to have the forward armament in superposed barbettes plus a single turret, a very unusual arrangement.

I agree with Spring that it looks like an Omaha-class light cruiser; the four stacks are distinctive, and as AF noted the arrangement of the forward guns is unusual, and is a characteristic of that class.
The Wikipedia article on the Omaha-class has a list of all the ships built in that class, with links to individual articles about each of them.
It is a lot of reading, but possibly the individual articles could help pin down which of them is in your photo.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omaha-class_cruiser
There is also mention that" due to the large topweight lasting on these ships, compounded by the high-mounted catapults, the Navy removed the two lower aft firing casemate-mounted 6-inch guns in 1939, fairing over the casemates port and starboard."
That detail might help to identify the time period, but I can't tell if the photo shows the pre- or post-1939 arrangement.

Ah! That's where the guns are. I was expecting them elsewhere.
