    Hello everyone,

Here are a few pictures of what I believe to be a wooden native spearhead that I found in the desert in southeastern part of California near the Colorado River. It's was stuck between two rocks towards the top of a shale ridge (no other wood was present in the immediate area). Has anyone seen anything like this? Any ideas on an age?

    Thank you,

    J

Have not seen any wood spearheads anything like that. I think the size and shape wouldn't work for a working spearhead made of any type of wood. It is close in shape and size to a 19th C. Sword bayonet blade but would need to be steel to work.

I agree it seems too skinny to have enough weight to make a formidable weapon. But given the grooves on the side it looks like someone put some effort in making it so it still has me intrigued. Not to mention the remoteness of the location it was found.
