Looking some help to identify this necklace looks to be coral and turquoise. D6A449FF-380D-49BC-B204-0CB0EC0AE5A4.jpeg

It is a hobbyist piece using Chinese dyed coral and turquoise beads, Indian silver spacer beads, and a Kazakh style pendant. Those silver disc beads are mostly made in Thailand and China, I think.

Interesting. I would have thought volume commercial but made in China over hobbyist. TY AJ.

Tested the coral with acetone and they’re not painted pieces.

They could have a protective layer, unfortunately that also happens.

Those fluted silver beads certainly have some age, they are beautiful. I like the turquoise matrix beads too. And I always love that Turkmen granulated triangles decoration. Could we see the back of the pendant?

I like it too but you know those “gut” feelings we get...mine is that it’s just too “right” to be hobbyist including the S hook and I get more a feeling of a commercial version of “tribal” jewelry that used actual eastern elements and was strung in China but if it’s hobbyist they sure did a good job. It doesn’t matter since it isn’t purist either way but it’s certainly an attractive piece.

Thanks, Brubaker. The pendant is genuine Kazakh imo. The non-Kazakh repros look more tinny, often even brassey. The rest of the necklace is not Turkmen.;)

Thank you for looking I found a Kazakh the exact same saying it was gilded silver.Still think the coral is genuine if I take a jewellery glass there is a pattern of lines running through just like the real pieces of coral I’ve had a close look at.

The coral is genuine, no one said it wasn't, but it has been dyed. Enhanced, if you like.;)

The eternal knots are Chinese, not very old. The one on the right could be Chinese, could be Indian.
