Am I ditsy, (PLEASE DO NOT ANSWER THAT!!!!!!) or do the prices, for the most part seem very LOW..... (or were the auction estimates too HIGH!!) for most of the items sold on this site????? Found the auction in my Maine Antique Digest.......or ANOTHER THOUGHT.....are the items not authentic!!!! They actually look pretty good to me, but WDIK!!!!!!!!!

That's a huge site with many past auctions......where were you looking?
That said the SW market is a billion dollar a year market.....there's so much of it , past and present , high value names all the way down to fakes..that prices fluctuate depending on the auction house, time of year, & quality offered !

I only looked at a small sample, but estimates struck me as very inflated & prices realized seemed about right. There is spectacular NA work out there, just none that I saw here. What I saw was very ordinary. Also, NA jewellery goes in & out of fashion & the price of silver is low.

    Pretty stuff and nice pictures.

I only viewed two pages.......it does make one wonder if the items were over estimated.

Will be curious to read the opinions of Komokwa, Taupou and All Fakes.

Auction prices...as a rule are under inflated to invite furious bidding......but there are always exceptions.....& there's a decent SW jewelry auction.....( with lots of Dead Pawn.....:meh::meh::dead::yawn::yawn:..) every week of every year......and will be for the foreseeable future..!

Seriously, who buys from a guy who names his auction house for a criminal? Not that I have any idea that the auctioneer is one, just seems a very odd choice.

I only looked at the first two, and last two, pages, but from what I saw, I thought the estimates to be overly optimistic, to say the least. That, combined with the fact that this probably isn't a well-known auction house, plus the sheer number of jewelry items (none of which seemed to be that outstanding) probably combined to keep prices down. Most seemed to sell in the range I would expect, in this case.

Nice jewellery, but after a few pages I haven't seen anything special yet. Most of the estimates are more stunning than the jewellery.

It seems to be the case that consignors can also play a role in price expectations. Auction houses can convey the impression that their 'experts' have appraised everything that's offered, but most of the time the house is relying on the consignor's description of an item. Evidently minimum bids were not set in line with estimated realized prices!
