Mystery silver brooch

This came in a bag lot of antique/vintage jewelry. Would like to know where/when it may be from? It’s unmarked but appears to be silver. Kind of a unique style. Guessing it’s made by a particular country or ethnicity?

Probably US made. It looks like a post-war costume brooch which mimics crochet flowers.

 

Unusual! I like it...and it would look even better cleaned up.

 

I checked with a friend who is pretty knowledgeable, buys and sells pins all the time. She’d never seen anything truly like it either. She said
“If it doesn’t say sterling or .925, it likely Asian (India etc) I’m guessing .800 or plated. It stains like silver… odd design without a catagory (not deco, nuvo, mcm… so foreign inspired?). Pin from 1900 - 1950”

 

That specific model safety clasp was introduced ca 1930, and widely used a few years later. So it is always going to be post 1930.

Given the 'novelty' aspect of the crochet/needlework inspiration, my guess is still post war, so late 40s-early 50s. That clasp was still used at the time, as was the hinge.
'Novelty' costume jewellery was very big in North America during that period, much more so than in Europe, hence my guesstimate of US. It was never a thing in Asia. Nothing about this brooch says India to me.
