I went into the Ill Will yesterday, hunting jewelry. Good luck with that but... this wouldn't let me out the door without it. It's got something of the Pennsylvania Impressionist school about it, and I was thinking "how am I going to ship this thing" when my mom glommed it and wondered where to hang it. Over the fireplace it went. Now that it's up there, is this just a local artist? It's oil on board, paper over the back, and in a frame painted ... I think ... to match the picture. It's not a great photo, but not bad for 5PM this time of year.

I'd found her name attached to some later work, but no images of the work itself. It's probably the right person; I just wanted to make sure I didn't stumble on some $$$$ Pennsylvania work by an artist with a low output or something. Odds are this image is in-state. It may even have been in Newington.

Here's the opening lines from an article in the Hartford Courant that seems to have disappeared.

"Diane A. Marinaro of Avon paints mostly in oils. Her subjects of interiors, landscapes and still lifes are vibrant with color and her use of light leads to a new way of looking at her subjects. Her paintings can be found in many juried shows throughout Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York.

Her art career started in the Bristol public schools as an assistant art supervisor; more recently she was an art instructor at St. Timothy's in West Hartford for 13 years. She continues to teach in the Connecticut area has a studio in Avon."

It's quite nice. Seems she's still alive too. Here's a couple addresses included in art publications found on the internet. If she is, perhaps she'll identify for you.

    P.O. Box 1181, Avon, CT 06001
    51 Westridge Dr., Avon, Conn.

I never saw those. Thanks. If her work tends to be colorful, this must be early or atypical. It's pretty muted.

Can't see much of the frame but 1960s likely.

I don’t know. Very different painting style, and very different signature. I doubt it’s by her.

I may have to ask them. There may have been more than one painter in town named Marinaro.
