I picked this up years ago and forgot about it.It's a 6 3/8" square inkwell base, unmarked except for 2 'Registered' markings. Looks like someone very ADD scrupulously stripped the original patination off the top,the original finish remains on the underside.
It's also missing it's ink container and lid.I always thought about turning it into a base for some curious find.
Any guess who may have made this ? Any ideas or clues,as always greatly appreciated.

Insert small vase...or a candle...or hey! what about an inkwell?

Yup...I've a long an' distinguished history of such egregious conduct, an' I'm now uncovering many items as appealing as your inkwell, with little or no recollection of when or where acquired. I know renewed shame with every one. Sigh.

It'd make a nice vase & an inkwell.Yep,some old treasures lurking in the house and garage.

Inkwell would've been glass, with a matching brass lid to go with the base. They were often removable, for cleaning, and such, so yeah, very easily lost.

Could easily turn it into a candlestick or something of that nature.
