    kyratango Bug jewellery addiction!

    Hi all!

Just bought this, to add to my quirky pieces :vamp: :joyful:.

    Described as silver, Scandinavian...:bucktooth:

It has a strong Asian feeling to me, seems old, and is marked with a clear mark I can't identify:sorry:

    6cm long!

On another site, @TallCakes identified the animal as a skink.

Pics are those of the listing, I'll update once in hand and tested:happy:

Tagging @Any Jewelry and @DragonflyWink :singing:

    Thanks for your help.

Aww, a rhinocerskink. Sweet and unusual.
I can't help, sorry, but I get a steampunk vibe. Mark could be some kind of Devanagari, of the Indian family. Indian steampunk?
(Probably from an entirely different part of the world.)

Thank you! Still can't read the squiggles:banghead:
The rhino horns are rather fun, as the rhinocerskink, special specy!

Absolutely. And the maker had a sense of humour. Or the skink had delusions of grandeur.:playful: Either way, it works.

I'm sure you've looked for similarly mounted skulls or bones, no result?

    That's very disquieting.

That's ... odd. I like it! Wouldn't wear it, but I like it. Maybe it's supposed to be a baby dragon skull?

Looks steampunkish to me as well, they often play with small skulls like lizards, birds, rats, etc. Personally not seeing much age, though the skull has an odd yellowed translucency, like it was oiled, or maybe not cleaned properly. Can't really help, but I like it too...

A lot of work sure went into it. Neat little thing!! Doesn’t look convincingly like silver to me. Looks like it could be but doesn’t look convincing.

Tested with 18k acid on the touch stone... Blueish flakes confirm it is indeed Silver:happy:

    Really heavy at 50 grams.

The mark looks like a sword horizontal above letters.
It seems A and L, but could be other alphabet:bucktooth:

I have a convenient heavy snake link chain, and YES, I'LL WEAR HIM, feeling like a powerful witch:joyful:

You won’t have to worry about going to the ball only to find another lady that arrived first wearing the same necklace!

Now that's jewelry that says "Beware, for you are crunchy and good with ketchup." (or mustard)
