    Phase 1 of the project is complete, we’ve determined that registry no. 10 WAS present at Bull Run. Details are here:

    Phase 2 research will attempt to determine which of the four Batteries were armed fully or partially with 10-pounder Parrott rifles included No. 10. Without getting into their official alphanumeric designations, these batteries were usually referred to by the names of their commanders, Ricketts, Ayers, Greene, and Griffin. Strangely, I’ve found dozens of documents regarding issues of stores, cannon, etc to Ricketts and Griffin, but NOTHING about issues to Greene and Ayers’ batteries. Maybe the Chief of Ordnance, Gen. Ripley, addressed such communications to another officer. I’m sure I’ll figure it out soon.
