Featured My new favorite ceramic jug... please help :)

Hey everyone!

Please help me identify this stunning very large ceramic jug. Bought from a local antique shop in Estonia for few euros, but I think this is my absolute favorite jug from my collection. Even though there are few chips, it is still in great shape. Any information on this would be so highly appreciated.
I know this dealer gets most of his stuff from Belgium, France and Germany so it must come from that region. It's about 23 cm (9 inches) high and capacity approx. 1,7 litres.

I am so happy with it even without any information about it, but it would be great to know at least when it was made and where.

This is from Walter Del Pellegrino's book Italian Pottery Marks for Fantechi. Sadly he's no longer around to offer opinions on it.

I'd have said Italian even without seeing the base.

 

A tin-glazed faience piece, I believe. Nice colors! Hmmm . . . What are those cherubim up to?

Is the once-putto (putti) cherub simply disillusioned because he was about to blow his conch shell and got a trumpet blast to the face? I doubt that's what the artist had in mind, since these kind of cherubim depictions generally have deep symbolism.

It seems the interaction reflects the doctrine or notion that the eternal--resurrection/judgement, etc.--will inevitably "trump" the worldly or carnal.

Great piece, regardless of retail value!
