My friend seems to think this is a hand-colored photograph and not an actual painting. Opinions?

    My friend seems to think this isn't actually a miniature painting, and is instead just a hand-colored photo. I believe it's just a well done painting, but I would like a second opinion:)

    Yes, that is what it appears to be. Fairly early and prosperous sitters.

    It's either a hand tinted photo or someone with some skill painted over a photograph.

    Hand-painted photograph. But dimensions (as above) and photograph of frame/case would be helpful. Also... what's the medium. Paper?
