US 2.9-inch Parrott Rifle Model 1861, registry no. 10: My article in the Winter 2024 issue of The Artilleryman prompted good feedback. I‘ve been getting requests for copies of the article, which is of course copyright to the publication, so I refer requests to them. I can however post copies of the “public domain” images I used in the article. The story is that No. 10 was one of the 16 2.9-inch Parrotts present among Union artillery batteries at Bull Run, Manassas, Virginia on 21 July 1861. Nine of those, including No. 10, were lost by the Union and re-issued to Confederate units. No. 10 continued in Confederate service, we believe with the Rowan Artillery, until captured in April 1865.
